Watch this video to learn some great information on using essential oils safely!

Young Living Essential Oils are powerful, and you want to be sure that you’re using them safely. The content on this page will provide some basics for essential oil safety, and the books and articles recommended on the favorite resources page are a great follow-up!

We also really love Lindsey Elmore, who is a pharmacist and shares TONS of knowledge about how to use essential oils and essential oil infused products (like supplements) safely and effectively. She has a Facebook Page and blog that we definitely recommend following!

SAFETY TIPS

  1. Start out slow. One drop of these super concentrated essential oils goes a LONG way, and you can always add more if you’d like!

  2. Check essential oil labels.

    • how to use the oil (aromatic, topical, internal)

    • ingredients

    • dilution ratio for adults (if necessary)*

    • YL essential oils do not have expiration dates. Make sure to store them properly.

  3. Children + Babies: Many moms (including myself) choose to dilute essential oils more than what is recommended on the label for babies and children; there are lots of resources out there for you to make empowered decisions for your family, so take the time to do your research. Depending on what resources you use, they will recommend avoiding or limiting certain oils at certain ages, so find a resource you trust when doing your research. 🙂

  4. Do NOT put essential oils into eyes or ears.

  5. Use glass or stainless steel when ingesting essential oils.
