FINDING YOUR PERFECT COLOR

Am I a Cool or a Warm?

If you are undecided if you are Warm or Cool, here are some helpful hints:

1. Check Your Veins — Push your sleeves up and look at the veins on the inside of your wrist. Are they blue? If so, you likely have cool undertones. Are they green? If so, you likely have warm undertones.

2. The Jewelry Trick — Think about whether you look better in silver or gold jewelry. Typically, ladies with cool undertones look better in silver and platinum metals whereas warm-toned women look better in gold.

3. The Neutral Test — Think about what neutral shades flatter you best. Do your skin, eyes, and face look better in bright white and black hues? You’re probably cool-toned! If your skin, eyes, and face look better in ivory, off-whites, and brown/tan shades, you’re probably warm-toned.

4. Eye and Hair Color — Your natural eye and hair colors can help figure out your coloring. Customarily, cool people have eyes that are blue, gray, or green and have blond, brown, or black hair with blue, silver, violet and ash undertones. Warm-toned women usually have brown, amber, or hazel eyes with strawberry blond, red, brown, or black hair. Their hair tends to have gold, red, orange, or yellow undertones.

5. The Sun’s Effects — When you’re out in the sun, does your skin burn and turn pink first? Cool tones tend to burn. Warm tones tend to turn a golden-brown.

Seasonal Colors

Still not sure, but you know your seasonal colors? This may help you. Basically, there are light and dark cools and light and dark warms.

Light and dark cools are summers and winters. Summers are light cools and look best in pastel shades like rose, periwinkle and sage. Your coloring tends to be more delicate. Winters are dark cools and tend to have rich and intense hair and eye colors and look great in bolder shades like black and red.

Light and dark warms are springs and autumns. Springs are light warms. The best colors for springs are ones that match your eyes, but they love to wear turquoise, watermelon, and salmon. Autumns are dark warms and look beautiful in the fall colors of moss, rust, and terra cotta. Think about leaves and spices.

One Is Silver and the Other Gold

One more tip! Silver and gold can help you to find your tone! If you have a piece of fabric, like a shawl, wrap yourself in it and see whether silver or gold looks better. If silver evens out your skin tone and makes your eyes stand out... you're probably a Cool. If gold evens out your skin tone and make your eyes stand out... you're probably a Warm.

Still not sure? There's great news! The foundation colors are very forgiving! Some people swear they look equally good in Cool and Warm shades. If you’re having trouble deciding and will be a 1 or 2, go with the Warm foundation. Warm 1 and 2 are the most NEUTRAL shades and super transitional whereas the Cool shades are definitely cool with some pink undertones! Having multiple foundation shades can also be helpful so that you can mix them together depending on the season... summer (when you’re tanner) and winter (when you’re more fair).

The Savvy Foundation colors go from lightest to darkest in each shade (so Cool 1 is the lightest Cool, then Cool 2 is slightly darker, and Cool 3 is the darkest Cool). If you have hyperpigmentation or uneven skin tone, go one shade darker. It’s OK to do multiple layers to get the coverage you need!

The Dark foundation shades have neither warm nor cool undertones. They were created for women with darker skin tones. Dark 1 is the lightest of the Dark Foundations whereas Dark 4 is the darkest of all colors currently available.

All of the foundation is versatile and easy to blend, and you can mix any of the foundation colors together to create your perfect color. In addition to using Dark 1 as a foundation, you can also use it to contour, as a bronzer, or as a neutral eyeshadow. Some people also choose to mix it with the Multitasker Dark for the perfect eyebrow filler. You can use Dark 4 to contour, as a bronzer, as a dark matte eyeshadow, or even to fill your eyebrows depending on how dark they are!
