DECEMBER MAKE & TAKE

EASY DIY HOLIDAY GIFTS

Invite

Choose one of the photos above (on your phone, hold down on the photo and click save) or make your own photo to post on social media and message/text your friends to invite them to your event! Give at least a couple of weeks notice if possible. Follow up with each person a couple days before to let them know how excited you are to see them and confirm that they’re coming!

For this make and take, we suggest charging $10 per person (to make one of each item) to cover your costs. We have also put an estimated price per item if you would prefer to charge by item or allow people to add on additional individual items!

When you host a make & take, we suggest charging one flat amount for everyone to come and make 1 of each of the items you will be making. This makes it easier on you to buy the right amount of materials (and not have tons left over). Also, paying for the items adds value to them - people find value in what they pay for. Additionally, when people see you charging for the items, it makes it more doable for them to duplicate bc they know that they don’t have to spend a ton of money on events/giving things away to be successful in their business.

Shout out to Kacie Biniak & Kasey Reed for sharing these ideas with all of us!

Salt Dough Ornaments | $2 each

If you’re going to make these ornaments, we suggest doing them first because they will take awhile to bake. You can also send them home with your friends on parchment paper to cook/finish at home (if you run out of time)!

Materials (amount it makes depends on size of ornaments)

  • 1 cup flour

  • ½ cup salt

  • ½ cup water

  • ribbon/twine

  • Christmas Spirit EO

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees.

  2. Mix together flour and salt in a bowl, then stir in water and essential oils until smooth.

  3. Lightly flour countertop.

  4. Roll out dough until it’s approximately ¼ inch thick.

  5. Cut out ornaments in desired shapes, and don’t forget to include a small hole to string ribbon through. (A plastic straw or wooden skewer works great for this).

  6. Transfer shapes to ungreased baking sheet and cook for 2-3 hours, until completely dry. Remove from oven and allow to cool.

  7. Paint or decorate ornaments if you’d like; string with ribbon, and your ornaments are done!

  8. Add a drop of Christmas Spirit.

Snowy Day Bath Crumble | $4 each

Materials (makes 4 crumbles about ¾ cups each)

  • 1 ⅓ cup baking soda

  • ½ cup citric acid

  • Water

  • 1 cup Epsom salt (plain, unscented)

  • 3 drops Stress Away + 3 drops Peppermint EOs

  • 4 oz. jar (mason jar works great)

Instructions

For a class, you will probably want to do steps 1 & 2 the night before and then explain what you did as you crumble it when everyone is there.

  1. Combine baking soda and citric acid in a bowl. Add water 1 tsp at a time. Whisk to combine. Occasionally take a handful and squeeze. It should be ONLY SLIGHTLY WET. Take a clump in your hand and squeeze, it should JUST hold shape, then fall apart. It should NOT hold shape. If it holds shape - it’s TOO WET. It should be like very lightly damp sand. Add additional baking soda or water to get the right consistency.

  2. Spread in a thin layer on a baking pan and let it dry overnight. (Or turn oven to 250 degrees. Put pan in oven. When it preheats, turn oven off - leave the crumble in the oven for an hour).

  3. When it is dry, crumble it.

  4. To finish - Mix crumble + epsom salt (I did about 1/2 cup crumble and 1/4 epsom salt) and 6 drops of essential oil. You can add dried botanicals if you wish as well.
